account of the drought.
There was a scrub game of base
ball at the Lexington base ball park

Mrs. Joseph Daly of Columbia, is
visiting her aunt, Mrs. Frank Griffith,
in this place.
Miss Helen Bradford iB taking a

Think of a snow storm in the
mountains of Montana, last Friday.
It was general throughout the State.
How was it here?
The infant of Mr. Lemuel Hall
died in Columbia last Thursday.
Its remains were taken to Gilbert j
for interment.
Mrs. E. S. Ssase, one of the good |
old souls, of whom there are many
on Hollow creek, sent her subscription
on last Saturday.

There was an ice cream festival cn
the Baptist church grounds Monday
night. It was given to aid a charitable
cause and was largely attended.
Misses Fannie and Pearl Oswald,
of Barr'e, and Miss Ruth Jumper, of
SpriDgfield, visited at Mr. H. L.
Oswarld, in this place, this week.

Some tobacco is being grown in
this county. The experiments with
the weed last year were not such as
to induce those who tried it to repeat
the dose.
Col. John Bell Towill, Chairman of
the Democratic party of Lexington
county, was in town Friday and called
to see U3. The Colonel was as
jovial as ever.
Mr. Willie E. Harman and his
charming young bride, of Augusta,
Ga, visited the parents of the latter,
Col. and Mrs. M. D. HarmaD, of
this place, on the 4th.
Mr. J. J. Puller, the popular and
attentive division passenger agent of
the Seaboard Air Line Railway, with
headquarters at Columbia, has been
transferred to Cedartown, Ga.
LOST?July 4th on the premisea
of the Lexington Department Store,
a 52 Smith & Wesson pistol in
leather case. Reward if returned to
the Lexington Department Store.
Rev. G. W. Kelley, who has been j
residing near Irene, this county,
leaves today for Callman, Callman
county, Ala, where he will make his
nome in the future with his son.
