f. The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, May 18,1904. i A Campaign Program. My Uncle Jim's a candidate; They chose him from the lot. He says they will elect him To the office, like as not. It ain't his wondrous learain', Nor his talents that commands. He hasn't got much money, But he's great at shakin' hands. There's somethin' awe inspirin' In the way he clears his throat And stands with one hand stuck inside His new Prince Albert coat. Its finer than the music of A dozen big brass bands When he says "How-dy-do" an' goes To work a-shakin' hands. TTp ain't a-making lengthy talks, Like he made in the past; I honestly believe he's got The right idea.pt last. Ke smiles with patronizing pride, His bosom broad expands, An' he don't say another word, But keeps a-shakin' hands. Herbine will overcome indigestion and dyspepsia; regulate the bowels and cure liver and kidney complaints. It is the best blood enricher and invigorator in the world. It is purely vegetable, perfectly harm less, and should yon be a sufferer from disease, you will use it if you are wise. R. N. Andrews, Editor and Manager Cocoa and Rockledge News, Cocoa, Fla., writes: "I have used vour Herbine in my family, and find it a most excellent medicine. Its effects upon my self have been a marked benefit. I recommend it unhesitatingly." 50c. Sold by The Kaufmann Drug Co. J The Black Peril. The Lilly White and the Black Tan ! factions of the g. o. p. have been con- ' tending for the mastery in in Alabama. ! The bone of contention was a struggle for the delegates to the National convention. After a rough and tumble fight, in which the Gentlemen in Black were much in evidence, the Tans literally wiped the floor up with the Lillies, much to the delight of the peanut galley, and now rules the ranch. A Sure Thing. It is said that nothing is sure except death and taxes, but that is not altogether true. Dr. King's New Discovery for Consumption is a sure cure for all " * * i nm i lung and tnroat trouoies. i nousanus can testify to that. Mrs. C. B. VanMetre, of Shepherd town, W. Va., says: "I had a severe case of Bronchitis and for a year tried everything I heard of but got no relief. One bottle of Dr. King's New Discovery then cured me absolutelv." It's infallible for Croup, Whooping Cough, Grip, Pneumonia and Consumption. Try it. It's guaranteed by The Kaufman Drug Co., druggists. Trial bottles free. Regular sizes 50c. and $1.00. Still Another Wat. Peru and Brazil, two South American republics, are now trying to exterminate each other with shot and shell, sword and bayonet. The dispatces tell us that an important battle was fought on May 10, between the armies of the beligerant countries near the River Chandles, in which the Peruvians were completely routed horse, foot and dragoons. A Graphic Imagination. Nathan's teacher believed in reducing poetry to diagram and visible outline. Therefore she told the class to make a rough illustration of the poem, "The Old Oaken Bucket." Nathan's illustration consisted of a large circle, three buckets and a bunch of dots. "Nathan," said the teacher. "I don't understand this. What's the circle?" "Thai's the well." replied Nathan. "And why have you three buckets?" "One is the oid oaken bucket, one is the iron bound bucket, and the other is the moss covered bucket which hung in the weil." "And what are all those little dots?"
