( Well, as to Mr. Qaattlebaum's re- : ply in your paper some time ago. I He said that I bad put Sfeadman and the people down as thieves. I deny the charge, as the readers of the Dispatch know. I said there were some honest men at Steadmau. This was Dot putting the Steadman ' people down as thieves. But what I 6aid about oertain things disappear, ing by the slight of hand, I still ssy the same thing, and can get the Dames of lumber men who will say they lost plenty cf lumber at Steadman. Why did Mr. Quattlebaum get offended at what I said when plenty others of the place said it did not offend tbem in the least? There is a wide difference in meat and lard being locked up in a bouse and lurn1 ber aDd wood put down by the railroad side. Uncle Jacob Kjser and I think of going to the reuuion at Charleston.
