I The Lexington Dispatch. I Wednesday, March 23, 1904. Rotes from Klondike. To the Editor of the Dispatch: It seems that cruel winter has at last either taken his flight or seeing the near approach of gentle spring has all of a sudden warmed up to her. We hope, however, that the fair maiden will not be at all coquettish, but will at once turn her back ? ? -1 -3 ?A upon Mje UiU uiau BUU gi < c us usi sweetest smiles. Tfae farmers hereabouts have most of their laud broken and the signs are that king cotton will hod increased acreage on most every farm. Some few are hanging on to the tail end of the tobacco delusion and will try this year to bust the trust. I trust they will Dot bust. More hogs have been killed in this section this winter than in years before and the farmers will have greasy beans and good corn biead?rations fit for a King. The R F. Every day most he handles letters that contain language so sweet that it almost makes the envelope sticky. Forest fires have done some damage in our community. Mr. J. Y. Ganter lost most all of his pasture fence and Boyd Roe, colored, lost his bouse and all its contents. How much we do feel the need of each other's help when a fire is raging on a windy day. Mr. Paul Kyzer called in his neighbors Monday and had an old time rat killing. About 150 crossed over the line to rat land. Jimmie Rikard has gone to bed with a good case of the measles and while we wish them to leave him we don^t care for their company. Mr. Lewie Hallman has had a very sick boy, but we are glad to report that he is much better. A certain divine in the county who has a reputation for being late at service, because be drives a mule, has now purohased a race horse. But conditions are no better now than formerly. Pneumonia is too dangerous a disease for anyone to attempt to doctor himself, although be may have the proper remedies at hand. A physician should always be called. It Bhould be borne in mind, however, that pneumonia always results from a cold or from an attack of the grip, and that by giving Chamberlain's Cough Remedy the threatened attack of pneumonia may be warded off. This remedy is also used by physicians in the treatment of pneumonia with the be9t results. Dr. W. J. Smith, of Sanders, Ala., who is also a druggist, says of it: "I have been selling Chamberlain's Cough Remedy and prescribed it in my practice for the past six years. I use it in cases of pneumonia and have always gotten the best results." Sold by The Kaufmann Drug Co. Man's Fate. A man turns green with envy, yellow with hatred, purple with rage* scarlet with anger, white from fear, pink from excitement, saffron from sickness, black from torture, red from beat, and blue from cold. Sometimes, too, he is "cold as steel," "hot as blazee," "cool as a cucumbar," "a warm proposition," "hard as brass," "soft as mush," "smooth as a board," "a rough customer" and "a slick article " Then again he is "good as wheat," "sound as a rock," "strong as an ox," "weak as a cat," "slippery as an eeJ," "sly as a fox," "meaD as a snake," "poor es a mouse," "hungry as a wolf" "and dry as a fish." Colds Cause Pneumonia. One of the most remarkable cases of a cold, deep-seated on the lungs, causing pneumonia, is that of Mrs. Gertrude E Fenner, Marion, Iod , who was entirely cured by the use of One Minute Cough Case. She says: "The coughing and straining so weakened me that I rau down in weight from 148 to 92 pounds. I tried a number of remedies to no avail until I used One Minute Cough Core. Four bottles cf this wonderful remedy cured me entirely of the cough, strengthened my lungs and restored me to my normal weight, health and strength." Sold by all druggists. Fish Story. j Intense quantities of carp have literally filled the river at HustiDgford, Wis., causing the saw mills and grist mills to scut down for several | days, the fish getting into the water ' wheels. Dangers of Pneumonia. A cold at this time if neglected is liable to cause pneumonia which is so often fatal, and even when the patient has recovered the luDgs are weakened, making them peculiarly susceptible to the development of consumption. Foley's Honey and Tar will stop the j cough, heal and strengthen the lungs ! and prevents pneumonia. Sold by The Kaufmann Drug Co. v Women as Well as Men Are Made MiserabJe by Kidney Trouble. Kidney trouble preys upon the mind, discourages and lessens ambition: beauty, vigor tand cheerfulness socn disappear v/hen the kidneys are out of order ^ or diseased. _ Kidney trouble has become so prevalent "ft that it is not uncommon I jj for a child to be born ' J-5 afflicted with weak kidneys. If the child urin . . ates too often, if the urine scalds the flesh or if, when the child reaches an age when it should be able to control the passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wetting, depend upon it. the cause of ihe difficulty is kidney trouble, and the first step should be towards the treatment of these important organs. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition of the kidneys and bladder and not to a habit as most people suppose. Women as well as men are made miserable with kidney and bladder trouble, and both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate efiect of Swamp-Root is soon realized. It is sold by druggists, in fifty- |j. cent and one dollar sizes. He escaped to the coal fields, where he was captured a few dayB later. He confessed to the crime and was rushed across the state of Virginia on a special train to Richmond. He was brought here for trial on a special train, unuer escort of more than 1,000 soldiers, and a heavy guard was maintained about the court house during the trial. % ?? - inflammatory Rheumatism Cured. William Shaffer, a brakeman of Dennison, Ohio, was confined to his bed for several weeks with inflammatory rheumatism. Friend? What is to matter now? "Well, you Bee, I had a little party at my mansion last night." "So I saw by the papers." "And to amuse my guests I ordered some music." "Yes, I heard you ordered a quartet." "Just sd! And, would you believe it, if four singers didn't crowd into the room and sing, aDd I had to pay all four of them, and, mind you, I oDly ordered one solitary quartet! That's the way I'm swindled every day of my life, and I'm tired of it." Invaluable for Rheumatism.
