mont ordered the discontinuance of
the poet-office at Manville, Lee
county, S. C , which was established
more than a hundred years ago, and
the people of that community impressed
upon Mr. Lever that bis political
fortunes depended upon the recall of
the order of suspension.
Investigation disclosed that the
postmaster was responsible for the
suspension of the office. The old
fellow had held the place for nearly
a generation. He lived on a farm
outside the village, and only attended
to the business of the office when he
had notbiDg more important or interesting
to do. It was because of this
state of affairs that the office had
been suspended. The department
was entirely willing to re-establish the
office if some one else were placed in
charge, but Lever's advices from
Lee ccuaty indicated that to oust
the old postmaster would cause a
political revolution.
The matter was finally adjusted
by the postmaster giving a pledge
that be would pay more attention to
Uacle Sam's business, and the office
has been re established with the same
man in charge.

You know Cousin George has been
in Europe for about two years, and
he was engaged to some oce here?
so he says. Well, anyway, he brought
her the most beautiful lot of thiogs;
but he wanted to make sure she
really cared for him, 60 before he
went to see her, he wrote and told
her that he had lost all his money.
I suppose she concluded thero wasn't

Cough Remedy.
Ashburnham, Ont., April, 18.1903.
?I tnink it is only right that 1
should tell you wnat a wonderful
tffect Chamberlain's Remedy has
produced. The day before Easter 1
was so distressed with a cold and
cough that I did not think to be able
to take any duties the next day, as
my voice was almost choked by the
cough. The same day I received an
order from you for a bottle of your
Cough Remedy. I at once procured
a sample bottle, and took about three
doses of the medicine. To my great
relief the cough and cold had completly
disappeared and ? was able to
preach three times on Easter Day. I
know that this rapid and effective
cure was due to your Cough Remedy.
I make this testimonial without solicitation
being thankful to have found
such a Godsent remedy. Respectfully
yours,
