Hartley & Co. Forty Days oa the Gang. Julius Bouknigbt, colored, was arrested last Saturday night charged with having stoleo a suit of clothfB from Ballentine & Co., and being dis orderly. He remained in the lock up until Monday morning when he was first tried before Mayor Fox and given five dollars or ten days for beiDg disorderly and then turned over to Magistrate Meelze and given thirty days on the gang for stealing. He is now serving a forty dajs sentence. Art Contest. We notice that Master Eogene Kaufmann, son of Dr. J. E K?ufrnaco, of this plac^, was one of the prize winners in the Art Contest, as published by The State last Sunday. Miss Lucy D Wrngard, daughter of Hon. J. B. Wmgard, of this place, also received honorable mention for her work in the same department. It seems these pictures have become very popular with the little ones all over the state.
