Tolbert, of Greenville, 4 has been appointed deputy United States Marshal to succeed W. K Dillingham, of Spartanburg, who resigned. An election will be held on the 15th of December^to decide whether a new county shall be carved from Edgefield and Aiken with the county Beat at North Augusta. The name of the proposed new county is Hammond. The Summerville News says that the people of that town spend an* nually $70,000 for liquor and $10,000 for schools. The Missouri river flood has given P. C. Nuckles, of Roebeport, Mo., a new house, completely furnished. The high water drove Mr. Nuckles away from bis farm, and when he returned he found on his land a comparatively new house, which was in good condition, despite its watery journey.
