National Counselor of the Daughters of America, who is now traveling over South Carolina in the interest of the organization, organized Emily Geiger Council No. 1, at Irene last Saturday and gave us a pleasant call Monday. We enjoyed her conversation very much. She is intelligent, pleasant and a brilliant conversationalist. ^ Clever Gentlemen. Messrs. Jones & Williams, the well known furniture, stove and house furnishing ^rods dealers, of Columbia, were in town during the County Fair mingling with our peo pie, with a view of forming business relations with them. This is certainly the best recommendation of the doctor's skill as an optician. s An Unusual SsauQSt The railroad commission has received a copy of a resolution of the grand jury of L mca6fcer county in regard to a trestle of the Southern railway over Bear creek, about a mile south of Lancaster. The resolution states that this trestle is in bad condition and the commission is asked to order the road to repair it. This was done eouie ago, however, and by now the bridge is ai! rigbt, as the recommendation was passed on October 3 aDd an inspection of the road was made later by members of the commission. The request is unusual, however, coming from a grand jury. * Harked Dowa. Stuart, the sou of the former, in Columbia. FOtETSKlBNEYCURi Makes Kidneys and Bladder Right Obituary. Mrs. Sophia Ann Carter was born December 22od, 1840 and died October 2nd, 1903. Aged 62 years, 9 months and 11 days. She was mar- ! ried to Leget Carter in the year 1861. To them were born 6 sons, 6 daughters and 7 grand children. Her husband, 1 son and 3 daughters went before her to the spirit land. She was baptized in infancy and in youth was confirmed a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church and through all the trials and trou- j bles of life?and she had many? she was true and faithful to the vows taken. Though for a long time separated from her dear old church, she never forgot the church of her fathers and when permitted to return to the home of her youth she rushed with joy and gladness to the old fold, and now she has gone to join the great fold above.
