The Committee on Fair Grounds was instructed to set the back fence of the present inciosure, so as to take in all of the grounds that a place , can be provided for the accommodation of horses and vehicles. The President was authorized to appoint a committee to draft suitable , resolutions to the memory of the late Secretary, J. A. Muller, E.q, and have same spread in the minute book. Taylor, and wa8 buried Monday in the family buryiDg ground, on the place of Mr. D. E. Ballentine, at 2 o'clock. She was the widow of old Uncle George Wingard, who preceded her to the grave many years ago. When the cold icy fingers of death were laid upon her and stilled the pulsations of her i warm and generous heart forever, she had passed the allotted span of life and had reached the ripe old age of 88 years, full of honor and > noble deeds. A sufficient number of names having been secured to form a Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy, a meeting will be held at the court house, on Monday, November 2nd, at 2 o'clock sharp, for the purpose of completing said organization, widows, wives, mothers, sisters, nieces and lineal decendants of Confederate soldiers are eligible to membership. All such are respectfully and earnestly urged to attend and connect themselves with the chapter. It is desirous to form the chapter at once in order to send delegate to the general meeting to be held in Charleston, S. C, November lltb, 1903. Big Excitement in Batesburg. The advertisement of the New York Rickefc was received too late to be changed this week, but we are unwilling to go to press without ssyiDg that something will drop Friday in that staid old town that will startle the whole surrounding country. Counts was elected to represent Lexington county at the conference to be held in Columbia, some time during the State Fair to decide upon a permanent place for the meetings of the South Carolina State Division U. Wannamaker, a | well known citizen of Lexington j county died at her home in Sandy Run, October 3,1903.
