the scholars of that school and to
those of the other Sunday schools of
the town, was very much enjoyed by
those who attended. The little lambs
of the different folds spent a delight
fui afternoon gamboling in the beau
tiful grove, and they all are loud in
expressing their thanks to the teachers
of St. Stephen for the afternoon
of unalloyed pleasure and in throwing
this ray of bright sunshine into
their tender lives.
Prominent among the pleasing and
exciting features of the occasion was
the hiding of three golden eggs, the
first of which was for the adult class
and the finder was given a scarf pin.
The second was for the intermediate
class and the premium wa9 a card receiver.
The third was for the primary

Old Cronies.
Messrs. Joe Harman and Pat

and the where-with-all to wash down
the savory meats, flowed like water
from a wet weather spring.

To the Editor of the Dispatch:
The health of our community is
good at this writing with a few exceptions.
Mr. Willie Koon is sick with the
mumps.
The farmers of this community
are turning the soil at ever'' chance
That is the only way to get our land

never stop raining.

daughter of Mr. H. N Amick,

Mr. Mitchell Shealy and his faithill
companion, -Kbett Clark, were
r fi-bing a few nights ago on the pond
They booked a monster and after
cngging and scuffling for about half
in hour, Mr. Sbealy was pulled violently
into the water. After a lively
muffle Master Rhett succeeded in
pulling him out. Mitchell stands

dogs that chased you last Sunday
night. He has nine of the barkers,
they were not "hauntB" as you
thought. Mop, you had better mind,
John's dogs are bad after coons.
Mr. John Amick went fishiDg a
few days ago. H9 had a bent
pin for a hook and a sewing-thread
line. He caught twelve of the
largest cat fish that ever swam beneath
the water' surface of old
Wateree and he would have caught
more but he hooked an uncommon
large eel, after a hard pull and by

the aid ot his orotner, waiter, ne
succeeded in pulling the eel to the
bank. They raised his head far enough
out of the water to see his eye*,
which were about the size of a
silver dollar and were set about nine
inches apart in his head; then by a
sudden snatch the eel bit off the line
and the way he went down the creek.
They heard "him jump over the mill!
dam half-mile down the creek; Jobn
I was left standing on the bank with
his bookless line and pole in his
hand looking wishfully after the eel
and the tear drops were rolling down
his cheeks as long as a pumpkin.
