('Twould Spoil This Story to Tell It in
the Headlines.
To use an eighteen century phrase,
this is an "o'er true tale." Having
happened in a small Virginia town in
the winter of 1902, it is a story very
much of the present. Up to a short
time ago Mrs. John E. Harmon, of
? w 7
Melfa SfcatioD, Yd., had no personal
knowledge bf the rare curative properties
of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy.
"Last January," 8be says, "my
baby took a dreadful cold and at one
time I feared she would have pneumonia,
but one of my neighbors told
me how this remedy had cured her
little boy and I began giving it to
my baby at once and it soon
cured her. I heartily thank the manufacturers
of Chamberlain's Cough
Remedy for placing so great a cure
within my reach. I cannot recommend
it too highly or say too much
in its favor. I hope all who read
ibis will try it and be convinced as I
was." For sale by the Kaufmann

Marriage of Rev. W. S. Siller.

Married, jpenruary ZD, iyuo, in at.
James' church Concord, N. C. Rev.
William Haskell Hiller and Miss
Addie Esther Patterson. Dr. Robert
C. Holland performed the marriage
ceremony. The ceremony took place
at 8:30 p. m., the church being filled
with the friends of the bridegroom
and his cultured bride. Hon. A. F.
Lever, M. C, came down from Washington
and acted the part of best
man. The church was beautifully
decorated, and this wedding constituted
one of the chief social events of
the city of Concord. The bridal
party, accompanied by Hon. A. F.
Lever, took the train immediately for
Washington. Rev. Hiller hss made
a most favorable impression as paster
and preacher in Concord and is deservedly
popular.?Lutheran Visitor.

Disturbances of strikers are not
nearly as grave as an individual disorder
of the system. Overwork, loss
of sleep, nervous tension will be followed
by utter collapse, unless a
reliable remedy is immediately employed.
There's nothing so efficient
to cure disorders of the Liver or
Kidneys as Electric Bitters. It's a
wonderful tonic, and effective nervine
and the greatest all around medicine
for run down systems. It dispels
Nervousness, Rheumatism and Neuralgia
and expels Malaria germs.

"Well Again.
The many friends of John Blount
will be pleased to learn that he has
entirely recovered from his attack of
rheumatism. Chamberlain's Pain
Balm cured him after the best doctors
in the town (Jlonon, Ind.,) had
failed to give relief. The prompt
relief from pain which this liniment
affords is alone worth many times
its cost For sale by the Kaufmann

Dots from .Near Peak.
To the Editor of the Dispatch:
We have been having some rainy
weather for the past few dajs.
The small grain is looking very
promising at present. The farmers
are preparing to raise their own hog
and hominy for another year, although
hogs are very scarce.
We are sorry to hear of the sad
accident of Mrs. Happy Derrick.
While she was going from the house
to the lot last week she fell and
broke her left leg. She has been

Everything is in the name when it
comes to Witch Hazel Salve. E. C
DeWitt & Co., of Chicago, discovered,
some years ago, how to make a
salve from Witch Hazel that is a
specific for Piles. For blind, bleeding,
itching and protruding piles,
eczema, cuts, burns, bruises and all
skin diseases, HeWitt's Salve has no
equal. This has given rise to numerous
worthless counterfeits. Ask for

Only One Negro Left.
New Orleans, March 6 ?Only one
negro ie left in Nacogodocbe county,
Texas, where white caps have recently
operated, and he has given public notice
that he will move as soon as sickness
in his family is over. Most of the
blacks owned their own homes and
have lost heavily.
The movement against the negroes
here, as well as in other Texas counties
on the Louisiana border, has
been going on for some time.
"Sugar Caae."
"Sugar Cane Culture" is the title
of a new book just published. It
contains chapters about the history of
cane, botany, anatclimate, drainage,
varieties, seedlings, etc:, and is nice
ly illustrated. The perusal of this
publication will be of great value to
all cane growers, and everyone can
obtain a copy, free of charge, by
writing for it to the German Kali

Assessing Electric Roads.
Assistant Attorney General Townsend
has rendered an opinion that the
Aiken and Augusta electric line and
other such lines are subject to assessment
by the railroad board of assessors.
Local street railroads are net
subject to that assessment.
Colds are Dangerous.
How often you hear the remark.
"It's only a cold," and a few days later
learn that the man is on his back
with pneumonia. This is of such
common occurrence that a cold, however
slight, should not be disregarded.
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy counteracts
any tendency toward pneumonia.
It always cures and is pleast
