A Protest.
i Columbia Afternoon Record, Nov. 2G,
The State Board of Canvassers
met today and officially declared the
result of the election, praotically the
same figures as already published
being the official declaration of the
result. There were present at the
meeting Lieutenant Gove. :or Tillman,
Mr. B. O. Patterson and State
Treasurer Jennings.
Dantzler, the cornfield candidate
from Orangeburg, made the usual
protest against declaring Mr. Lever
elected, was represented by Morer,
the negro lawyer of Orangeburg,
whose legal knowledge and arguments
are not so extensive and well
taken as to deserve a serious consideration,
and his case went like Prioleau's
and Mr. Lever was declared
elected. Mr. Moss was present to
elect Mr. Lever, and Mr. Efird, of
Lexington, was also his attorney,
but it was not considered necessary
that both, or even one of them,
should be present.

A Timely Suggestion.
This is the season of the year
when the prudent and careful housewife
replenishes her supply of Cham- i
berlain's Cough Remedy. It is cer- 1
tain to be needed before the winter
is over, and results are much more
prompt and satisfactory when it is i
kept at hand and given as soon as
the cold is contracted and before it i
has become settled in the system. ,
In almost every instance a severe
cold may be warded off by taking
this remedy freely as soon as the first
indication of the cold appears.
There is no danger in giving it to 1
children for it contains no narmful
Bubstance. It is pleasant to take?
both adults and children like it. Buy
it and you will get the best. It j

Why 2Tot ?
The government is erecting a
$5,500 public building at Bock Hill,
S. C. It will be used as a post office
and for other purposes. Why can't
Lexington succeed in getting an appropriation
from Congress to build
a public building at this place for
the use of the post office and other
purposes? The measure is worth
the effort.
