To the Editor of the Dispatch:
I regret to announce the death
near here yesterday a. m. of Mrs. J.
M. Collnmn. A good woman has
been called to her reward. Her funeral
will be preached at Bethlehem
church today by Rev. Evans Hall
and 6he will be buried in the Gunter
cemetery, where now rest numbers
of her friends and relatives who have [
been called before the summons came 3
to her.
Rev. Dr. A C. Wilkins and John 1
Bell Towill left yesterday to attend 1
. rt. . r?
tfie sessions or tne state baptist
Convention which meets in Green- *
ville tonight. t*
Rev. J. D. Crout our Lexington
boy, will go to Newberry tomorrow
to be at the South Carolina Conference
which convenes there Thursday.
We trust 'he good bishop will |
send John back here again, as we all
want him, regardless of denomination.
The Sollee-Asbill case is being *
tried in Saluda today and several
persons here are gone there in at- j
tendance on court.
A cold rain is falling today, a reminder
that even the weather can be
fickle and not always good.
Oar efficient postmaster, J. Frank
Kneece, has been swinging aroand
the circle of late. We notice a Johnston
correspondent calls him Prince.
Well he is a Prince of good fellows,
and the influence a pretty girl can
wield over him has astonished those
who ignorantly supposed him proof
against each charms.
It is reported that the factory will
reBame its night work soon which
will give additional employment to 1
those who wish to work. ^
The noise of the expiring porker is ^
heard in our land and our mouth
waters for sausage, spare ribs and ^
souce, but water it may, for the
thought of good things to eat is all,
for nary a pig ever squeals around ^
our way. It is 6uch a bother to be
sc poor. Occasional.
