There has been a terrible storm on
the Pacific coast. There were a large
number of severe earthquake shocks,
followed by a tidal wave.
President D. B. Johnson, of Winthrop
College, says that there were

300 had to be turned away because
of failure to stand the entrance examination

Any druggist who looks more to
the health and welfare of his friends
and customers than to the increase
of his prescription trade, will
recommend Ramon's Liver Pills
and Tonic Pellets for attacks of constipation
and biliousness. They are
far better than strong drugs and
much cheaper than prescription bills.
G. C. McCiue & Son, the leading
druggists of Gallup, Ky., writes:
Ramon's Liver Pills and Tonic Pellets
have proved to be the most
popular and satisfactory medicine we
ever handled." A trial will convince
you of their great superiority over
ordinary liver pills. 25 cts. Herman's

Sis Position oa Trusts.
Washington, October 9.?An elaborate

of trusts, defining the national administration's
position will soon be
made. Secretary Knox will deliver

effort than any made during

Reflections of a Bachelor.
Engaged couples fly a very high
kite with a very short tail.
The time when everybody reforms
is after he is caught.
The music is different, but nearly
everything else is the same at a wedding
and a funeral.
When a girl begins to fall in love
she acts as if she were a fly trying
to catch a spider in his own web.
Just because a man doesn't marry
a woman is not a sign that he doesn't
love her, especially when she is married
already.

An Effective Reply.
"Would you," asked the millionaire's
daughter, marry a girl with red
hair?"
"No," replied the poor young man,
"for my heart is possessed by one
with rich auburn tresses. Will you
be mine?"
She threw herself in his arms and
sobbed for joy.
Improved Dining Car Service.
The Seaboard Air L'ue Railway
continues to improve its passenger
train service between the North and
South. The Dining Cir service on
Florida Metropolitian Limited, trains
31 and 31 was, on October 2nd, extended
to Jacksonville, Fla.
This branch of the service on the
Seaboard has become very popular
for the reason that meals are served
A la Carte and passengers may be
served with light lunches or to any
extent they may desire making
orders cost very little or any price
they may elect. All orders are
served in first class style while the
prices are very low.

His Life in Peril.
"I just seemed to have gone all to

Tex., "biliousness and a lame

Telling Distance in Florida.
One of Senator Quay's party,
while in Florida, went alligator hunting,
and, as often happens with the
uninitiated, he got lost. It was near
night, and he was at a loss to know
what to do. Presently he met a
man riding a cow.
. "Can you tell me how far it is to
Miami?"
"Wall, I reckon hit's about two
whoop9," the man answered.
"Two?what?"
The man seemed to take this as
challenging his veracity, for he looked
questioningly at the palmettos
and the prickly pears beside the
path, then began to scratch his head.
"P'r'haps hit may be a smitch
furder," he admitted: "but I 'low hit
ain't more than two whoops an' a

A Republican Scheme. .
The Columbia Record thinks that
it is likely that the Republicans will
have a candidate in every congressional
district in this State this year,
for the purpose of having contests
before congress, a considerable
amount of money being allowed for
expenses of contestants. It is most
important that every Democrat vote
for congressmen, so as to give as little
excuse as possiblo for these contests.
A Good Law.
A proposition has been introduced
by the Prohibition party of Corband
county, New York, which demands
that every man who drinks intoxicating
beverages shall take out a license
costing not less than $5 a year.
Every six months the names of the
license holders are to be published in
the official newspapers of the countyThe
leaders propose to introduce a
measure of this nature in the Legislature.
He Learned a Great Truth.
It is said of John Wesley that he
once said Mistress Wesley. "Why
do you tell tnat cnna tue same tuiug
over and over again?" "John Wesley,
because once telling is not
enough." It is for this same reason
that you are told again and again
that Chamberlain's Cough Remedy
cures colds and grip; that it counteracts
any tendancy of these diseases
to result in pneumonia, and
that it is pleasant and safe to take.
