* The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, October 15,1902. Leaves from Spring1 Branch. To the Editor of the Dispatch: Well, Mr. Editor, I guess it is tim^ for me to write again. The health of our community is \ very good at this time. Cotton picking is about over. Pea pulling and cutting is now the daily work on the farm. The farmers are making good use of their time?what time it is not rftininor. O" We have had some nice rains. They make turnip and sweet potato tops look fine. Well, Mr. Editor, I think I will engage in dog and hog raising. There aeems to be money in dog and hog and also trouble in dogs. Mr. D. F. Shumpert of Pelion, is seen riding about in our community banting booty. Got ready and pay bim what you owe him. Well, there is 8 great demand for education and better education, so parents educate your children so that when you leave them you will not leave them in a state of ignorance. Well, Mr. Editor, here are some of the boya who are going to take in the / big State Fair at Columbia: Messrs. F. B. Ivery, G. C. Gantt, J. 0. Sprad ~ V T Tk ley, 2i. if. .Bradley ana u. u. joerry. Mr. Jaoob Shumpert recently had the misfortune to lose a fine Tennessee raised mule. Mr. Sam Derrick also sustained the loss of a Kentucky raised mule. Mr. George Roof and wife of Irene have been visiting at the home of Mr. John T. Kyzer. Mr. Iry Kyzer is at home with his father. A happy time to the editor of the Dispatch and its readers, is the wish of , Mont Rose. There is more Catarrh in this section of the country than all other diseases put together, and until the last few years was supposed to be ineureble. For a great many years doctors pronounced it a local disease, and prescribed local remedies, and by constantly failing to cure with local treatment, pronounced it incurable. Science has proven catarrh to be a constitutional disease, and therefore requires constitutional treatment Hall's Catarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, Ohio, is the only constitutional cure on the market It is taken internally in doses from 10 drops to a teaspoonfnl. It acts directly on the blood and mucous surfaoes of the system. They offer j one hundred dollars for any case it fails to cure. Send for circulars and j i testimonials. i Address, F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, O. Sold by Druggists, 75c. Hall's Family Pills are the best. f" * ? Leaves from Holland's Shed. To the Editor of the Dispatch: We have been having very fine , weather for the last few weeks and we are nearly done picking cotton. The farmers are sowing oats wtnle others are gathering corn and peaee. I most say we have an allround good crop. I think there is better and more opportunities for the farmer to make money than for many years. Everything he has to sell is a fancy price, therefore the farmers should strive to raise all of his provision t>n the farm, so then you see his product can be turned into, money. Boys let me give you some sdvice. First decide what ycu are going to follow as a life work. If you have not yet decided, take my advice and settle down on the farm for your life . calling, which is one cf the surest and most independent lives you can live, but you must take hold cf it right and work for success. Remember life is just what we make it. ? ? n a a Some men wors an tneir aays unci never accumulate or accomplish anytbiDg more than a living and a scant one at that; then on the other hand, some men prosper at almost anything they take hold of; why is it, simply because they manage right and save what they make. The old adage is; There is more made by saving than by hard work. Boy8 settle on the farm and be your own boss, and make men of. your selves and be respected among all classes of people. It is God's calling and he will surely give you plenty if you Btrive as he directs. He gave us this good old mother earth, now do your part and he will do the rest, without his aid we can do nothing. Paul may plant and Apollos may water but the increase must come from God. It seems that our farmers are slow about selling cotton this fall. It is a good idea to hold it if you can. Mr. Andrew Metz will be a neighbor in our community very soon. Mr. C. H. Bouknight and Mr. W. F. Hyler have nearly completed one fine barn and a crib, both buildings are double storied, which make them convenient buildings. They will also commence remoddling the dwelling on the same place, that is, where W. K. Eleazer sold to Mr. Metz. Dr. Willie Folk's sweet and charming daughter, Miss Minnie, will soon return home, after spending a month with her uncle, Artimus Bouknight, and bis cultured family, and other relatives and friends in several communitie in adjoining counties. From what I can learn she captivated the hearts of many of our best young men, and her early return is anxiously looked for to with much pleasure. True Blue. Question Answered. Yes, August Flower still has the largest sale of any medicine in the civilized world. Your mothers' and grandmothers'never thought of using anything else for Indigestion or Biliousness. Doctors were scarce, and they seldom heard of Appendicitis, Nervous Prostration or Heart failure, etc. They used August Flower to clean out the system and stop fermentation of undigested food, 'regulate the action of the liver, stimulate the nervous and organic action of the system, and that is all they took when feeling dull and bad with headaches and other aches. You only need a few doses of Green's August Flower, in liquid form, to make you satisfied there is nothing serious the matter with you. You can get this reliable remedy at Kaufmann's Drug Store. i. n- CJ :~i *1 UCk UIOCUO OJJCUiai aiUittUBU. 12?33 ? 2To Fault to Find. "The policeman says he found you drunk and disorderly," said the magistrate. "Was I whooping and yelling and jumping up and down and cracking my heels together, and offering to fight anybody in that crowd?" asked the prisoner ?" "That's what he says." "Did I kick like a steer when he arrested me?" "He says you did." "I made him drag me every step of the way to the station, didn't I?" "You did, according to his statement." ? "He gave me all these bruises with bis club, didn't he?" "Yes." "And I made all those marks on his face with my fists and fingernails, didn't I?" "He says so." "Tbeil it's all right, your honor," said the prisoner with a grin of satisfaction. "I was afraid I had dreamed it all. Stick on the fine, your honor. The fun I had was worth it." The Worst Form. Finally I was induced to use Kodol and after using four bottles I am entirely cured. I heartily recommend Kodol to all sufferers from indigestion and dyspepsia. Take a dose after meals. 'MV"a Rocky Creek Items. ! To the Editor of the Dispatch: A very nice rain fell here Saturday and Sunday. Picking cotton will scon be a thing of the past m this section. Misses Nettie and Mary Nichols, also Miss Minnie Shealy were the guests of Miss Lessie Shealy one afternoon recently. We are sorry to learn that Mr. 0. D. Rawl, one of Rocky Well's best farmers, suffered a stroke of paralysis recently, and is very low at tni9 writing. We hope for him a speedy recovery. Mr. G. B. Shealy was at Lexington last week attending court. He was summoned as a juror. The scent of the orange blossoms is pouring in from all sides. I think they will soon bloom now. While picking peas sometime ago one of Mr. H. E. Shealy's little boys was bitten by a snake and we are glad to know that he is now recovering. The farmers are now busy gathering peavines and corn, and I am glad to say that these crops are certainly fine, although cotton is not what it was expected to be in this section. Some of our Bocky Creek farmers are very much agitated at the rainy weather, though, dear farmer, it was very nice on those oats which you nave bowu. It seems that some of our boys are very much delighted in going o'posBum hunting, so boys let me tell you now when the first day of November comes I am going to take a visit and will retire until next summer. If you don't know me just think of Bob White. Natural Anziety. Mothers regard approching winter with uneasiness, children take cold so easily. No disease costs more little lives then croup. The town paper is expected to bust itself boosting the town, its enterprises and its business men and at the sametime tell the people what they have and what they have not, yet they expect the editor and bis family to live and keep out of debt and never go outside of town to spend a cent. Yet there are merchants who never spend one cent advertising there wares. The printer must work for nothing and help everybody else to live. The entire treatment of Ramon's Liver Pills and Tonic Pellets for constipation, costs but 25 cents? j medicine for a month, pleasant to take and thorough in action. Har- | man's Bazaar.
