I All of the fruit is more or less damaged by the recent hail storm. Mr. Newell Lee is spending sometime with hie family at this place. It is astonishing at the number of men who want to be elected to office. These hot days one can almost hear the corn and cotton cracking the ground. Fishing in factory pond affords a pleasant pastime for the sporting fraternity. The prices of all things are now going up. There is even a rise in yeast cakes. Miss Ellen Hendrix, who has been teaching school at Swansea, has returned home. The Bazaar fountain is in full blast dispensing cool and refresing drinks to the thirty public. We are sorry to learn that Prof. O. D. Seay is confined to his room with a spell of sickness. F. Lever was among the interested spectators at the County Convention Monday. The workmen are putting the finishing touches on the residence of Mr. John J. Taylor, on Upper Main street. It is just possible that a steel bridge will spann the Saluda river at no distant day. The sooner the better. During the summer months the Bazaar will keep ice on hand, which will be sold at a reasonable price. W. J. McCartha, inspector of local dispensaries, was in town Monday in attendance upon the convention as a delegate. Dr. D M. Griffith, Superintendent of the State Penitentiary, was in , town Monday mingling with friends and acquaintances. Miss Lizzie Harman, after quite a pleasant visit to her cousin, Mrs. J W. Simpson, State Deputy ( of the Fraternal Mystic Circle of Philadelphia, Pa., and of the Royal Fraternal Union of St. Louis, Mo., has been in town several days in the interest of these organizations. Dr. W. T. Brooker a prominent physician of Swansea, was in town Monday. The Doctor represented Lexington county in the General Assembly several years ago with marked ability, and we are always glad to shake his hand. We had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Dr. W. P. Tim^ merman, a rising young physician of BateBburg, and found him to be a pleasant and cultured gentleman and if he is a chip of the old block he 3 will do to tie to. 4 T. C.
