The Lexington Dispatch Wednesday, February 19,1902. Pineville Academy Dots. To the Editor of the Dispatch: k The health of the community is very good with the exception of P eonghs and sneezes. I We have a Jew peddler roaming 9 over this country now. } Mr. George R Sease has recently moved to his mother's at Priceville. Mr. J. C. Pric9 has turned out to be a regular mule trader. He trades about three times till the mcon changes once. That's getting about, isn't it? The long talked about chart business is about settled. Next time I guess the trustees of schools will cot be led estray. Mr. A. M. Long butchered a hog recently that weighed three hundred and fifty pounds. Mr. Long is one of our best armers and raises all of his bog and hominy at home. Log rolling time has started agam. Mr. M. J. Ballentine gave the first one this season to my recollection and I wonder who will give the last one. Mr. J. J. Long is doing a flourishing business with his rice buller. Prof. S S Lindler entrapped 10 rats the other night. Farmers are preparing their soil for another crop as spring is almost here. Mr. J. E. Sease is preparing to build him a barn and gracious knows what else. The school at this place is progressing nicely now, but it is fast drawing to an end for this Eession. Max. February 8, 1902. Their development increases i the riches of the State, provides employment for her sons and benefits j all interests. There is no reason for j 1 c showing special favors to capital, bul there is do sense in treating it with undue harshness. Water travels ic the direction cf least reeistaDce and capital has a somewhat similar characteristic. It will not seek investment under adverse circumstances. In recent years much capital has come into South Carolina for investment and home people have been keeping their money busy de veloping various industries. The figures are not available, but there has been a tremendous increase in the corporate capital of this State during the last ten years. The fertilizer and cotton manufacture industries have been more highly developed than any others. Railroads have long been recognized game for such demagogues. Bat now the fertilizer factories and cotton mills are coming in for attention. There are politicians who care naught for the general effect of legislation so long as it has special result of landing them in office. It would not feaze them if they got a five thousand dollar office by crippling a million dollar industry by legislation devised to please the fancied prejudice of the masses. Avwvuivvc make fertilizer factories aDd cotton mills prosperous in this State, they are not sufficient to overcome the evil effects of inimical legislation, and such legislation will cripple further growth of these industries and tend to make capital go elsewhere for investment in them.
