Philippine War Not Ended.
The war department has been advised
by cable from Manila of the
surrender of the insurgent chieftain
Sampson, at MutasaroD. with all his
officers and men, 28 cannon and 45
rifles. Mutasarou does not appear
on any of the maps in the possession
of the department, but it is assumed
W that the surrender took place in the
island of Bohol, as it was there that

with his followers, having crossed
from the former scene of bis operations,
the island of Cebu.
The war department is abo in receipt
of a cablegram from Gen.
Chaffee, Manila, reporting that Odus
Boeder, second lieutenant Philippine
scout?, committed suicide ou the
morning of Dec. 23 by shootiDg himself
with a carbine on board the Lawton.
He was suffering from temporary
insantity, due to illness.

A poor complexion is usually the
result of & torpid liver or irregular
action of the bowels. Unless nature's
refuse is carried cff it will surely

cause impure blood, pimples, boils
and other eruptions follow. This is
nature's method of throwing off the
poisons which the bowels failed to
remove. DeWitt's Little Early
Risers are world famous for remedying
this condition. They stimulate
the liver and promote regular and

Forgot He Was President.
President Roosevelt certainly went
far out of his way to show his disapproval
of the utterances of General
Miles in expressing approval of
the findings of Admiral Dewey in tbe
Schley court of icquiry. in tne presence
of twenty distinguished people
President Roosevelt shook his fioger
at General Miles aud iu doing this
he lowered the dignity of the high
office which by accident he has been
called to fill. He surely must have
forgotten that he was President of the
most powerful nation on the face of
the earth and thought that he was
still commander of the Rough Riders
f wheo it was eminently proper for him
to criticise Secretary of War Alger
for not hurrying tlte army home from
Santiago, and Eagan for sending out
bad meat.
An Evangelist's Story.
"I suffered for years with a bron

One Minute Cough Cure affords irn

Kidney trouble causes quick or unsteady j
heart beats, and makes one feel as though i
they had heart trouble, because the heart is
over-working in pumping thick, kidneypoisoned
blood through veins and arteries.
It used to be considered that only urinary
troubles were to be traced to the kidneys,
but now modern science proves that nearly
all constitutional diseases have their beginning
in kidney trouble.
If you are sick you can make no mistake

and the extraordinary effect of Dr. Kilmer's

Pari*, December 27 ?A foreign
office attache confirms the statement
that trouble is brewing between
France and Venezuela over the peizure,
by President Castro, of Venezuela,
of the properties of Senor
Mance) Matters, the present leader
of the Venezuelan revolution.
The attache states that Senor Mat- ;
ters made over the title of the property
to M. Secresta, at Bordeaux, and
that the presence of the Venezuelan
ooneul at Paris was a consent to the
transaction and binds Venezuela to
recognize its lawfulness to France.
