According to the census report there are 10.52G more females than males and 224 702 more colored than whites in the State. - J. Gordon Cwgler, the poet cf Columbia, died in that city Monday. He was interred in Elmwood jesterday and his grave was literally covered with flowers. The Federation of Labor of the State met in Columbia yesterday and the action of the mill authorities in reference to the employment of union labor was condemned. The returns eo far show that Mr. Lever will carry his home county by a four-fifths majority. Lexington is aroused and calls upon her sister counties to support her candidate with that strength that she has given the candidates from OraDgeburg. It does seem that a Congressman ^ from one county for eighteen years is enough. Emma Goldman, the woman anarchist's writer and lecturer, has been arrested. She is accused with others of having planned the assassination of the President. Mr. Lever's home box, Spring Hill, gave him in this election 70 votes against 10 and thi.s in face of having been in active politics for the past 10 years. The doctors have pronounced him out of danger. "Judge Gary has decided that the Seaboard Railroad had no right t?> lease Sidney park in Columbia by condemnation proceedings. Here is what the Judge says upon the subject. "Judge Gary sustaius the contention of the claimant that tbo rail road company bad no right to condemn the paik with or without the v assent of city council, unless specially authorized bv tho legislature so to do: ~ that the legislature has grunted no . such authority in this casr; but inasmuch as the railroad company has destroyed the park, and it is impoesib'c for that property to be replaced as it was, Judge Gary refuses to grant the injunction prayed for and holds that the plaintiffs may be com pen.sa ted in damages, and refers the matter to the master of Richland county to ascertain the amount of damages. The plaintiffs did not ask for dama cps in the outset but prayed for ad injunction. However, the proceedings to estimate the amount of dam^^^^ages will no doubt be begun at The election returns from the counties comprising the 7th Congressional District are so vague and indihnite as to make them unreliable, as to who leads in the race. The meagre reports received up to the hour of going to press show that the support given by the other counties to Lexington's candidate, everything considered, is very flattering, and in maDy of them indicate that he is their second choice It now becomes the duty of the poo\^j>ie of Lexington county to throw every hinderaDce aside and go to the polls on Tuesday, the 2 lib, and vote for Lever. In that election every vote is needed and must oe orcugni out. We hope to see every friend of Lexington county in harness work ing night and day between now and the day of election for the election of Lever, which means Lexington's triumph. Swansea Doings.
