On this subject the Southern Cultivator gives this timely advice: Have you planted that patch of rich ground to sunflower seed? If not, there should be no delay iu preparing for a full crop of this valuable and inex pensive food for hens and other animate Tho n^w mammoth Russian sunflower seed, which is much larger seed, and contains moie eggforming material than the sur flower, is the best kind to plant Put iu drills two feet apart and eight inches in the drill and when well started, thiD out every other stalk. Then cut the side springs and throw all the force in the plant into one large head. Sunflow_ ? ?.UrinK ers can oe grown everj wucio soil, and it is yet to become one of the regular fattening foods, not only for hens, but for sheep, horses and meat stock.
