Riley Passes Away. Mr. W. S. Riley, a prominent and successful young business m9n of Batesburg. died at bis heme in that j town on October 3rd, after a lingering attack of typhoid fever. He leaves a widow, who was Miss Queenie, a daughter of Cjptain H. A. Spann, and an infant eon, about a year old. Universal sorrow is felt over his untimely and lamentable death. The youngest daughter of Mr. Ber j iDiin Rotf died at his residence about four miles between here and Co'umbia, last Friday. She was a grand-daughter of the late Danifl Corley and is said to have been a noble young woman with a lovable character and sweet disposition. Senator D. M. Crosscn has issued a call for cotton growers of Lexicgton county to meet in convention at this place on Wednesday, the 2itb inst., the second day of the County Fair. Mr. Jacob J K}zer, a hard working citizen of fcnscommunity,died at his old home yesterday after a loDg illness. Sometime ago he received a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered. For years he was a trusted employee of Saxe-Gotha mill, but more recently, and up to the time of his last illness, he held a position with the mill at this-place.
