After a consultation of the trustees of the free public schools of the county the date fixed for holding the Summer school for teachers has been changed from July 16th to August 15th. We understand that a fatal encounter occurred in the Cloud's c eek section of Saluda county, last Monday, between Mr. George Duncan aDd a negro driver of one of his father's lumber wagons, named Eugene Woods. Woods was shot and killed. The difficulty grew out of a dispute about some keys and self defense is claimed. Qaattlebaum has succeeded in arresting Paul Foster, colored, who is charged vwth having committed a murder at Leesville on the 19th day of May last, and for whose arrest and. conviction Gov. McSweeney, on the oih day of June, offered a reward of fifty dollars. Foster is now in jail awaiting trial at the September term of court. Reduced Rates Via Southern Railway. National Democratic Convention, Kansas City, Mo, July 4, 1900. On account of this occasion, Southern Railway will sell round trip tickets from all points on its Jine9 to Kansas City, Mo, and return at rate of one first class fare for the round trip.
