Revival services will begin in the Lexington Baptist church on Thursday before the third Sunday in July, being the 12rh day of the month. Rev. J. J. Myers, the pastor, will conduct these services and they doubtless will be interesting and attract large audiences. The public is cordially invited. A Smash Up on the Southern. A bad accident occurred on the Southern Riilway at the depot in this place last Digbt about 8 o'clock, in which two cars were demolished and two others badly dam* aged. When the accommodation train from Columbia, which is locally known as "The Crosson,'' arrived at the site of the old batting factory, which is 6ome distance from the depot, the cars in some manner came uncoupled. The first section with the engine rolled up to the depot and stopped, and the second section, to which was attached the passenger coach, came down the grade with great velocity and crashed into the rear car of the first section completely demolishing it. The next car rode a coal car and stopped with one end restiDg on the top of a car and iho other end on the coal car. At the time of the accident a negro was asleep on the coal car and he made a miraculous escape from instant death with only a few slight cuts and bruises. There were several passengers on the train, and among the number were the Rev. J. N. Wright, ' pastor of the Meihodist church at this place, and his son, Mr. W. Wright, of Columbia. The latter was thrown to the floor by the crash and sustained painful though not serious injuries. Medical aid was j soon on the spot and after an examination his ii juries were pronounced to be not of a serious nature. A wreckage train arrived from Columbia and tne track was soon cleared of the debris. * A3 the cars came together the crash was distinctly heard in town, a distance of over a mile. It is feared 1 that the crops are greatly damaged as a consequence. Dr. Julian E Kaufmann has con eluded to put another 6tory to his new brick building which is now under construction. In consequence of the indisposition of Rev. Harold Thomas there will be no Episcopal services here until Tuesday, July 10th. We are UDder many obligations to Mr E J. George for a sack of his fine middlings, which was ground at bis justly popular mill. Ledgers, journals, records, counter books, memorandum books, school books, pads, pencils, ink of all colors, mucilage, &c., for sale at the Bazaar. Howard died at hie home near Samaria, in this county, on June 15:b, at the advanced age of 83 5ears. Capt. Howard was amoDg the best known aDd most popular citizens of the couDty having faithfully seived her in positions of honor and trust. One by one the old Veterans cf the Lvst Ciuse are crossing the iiver to rpst under the shade of the trees and soon they will be known to the living in history only. The latest of the thinning ranks to cross over is Irvin Spires, a member of Co. H, 20:h regiment, who died at bis residence on Scouter creek, last Saturday morning, after suffering for sometime with dropsy. His earthly remains were tenderly laid away to rest at Bethel church on the following Sunday iu the presence of relatives and friends.
