gang will move in the neighborhood
of Peak and Mr. James C Hope's,
where it will be engaged in making
some important repairs to bridges
which have been so much needed
since the high liver and creek about
four weeks ago.
Rev. E. T. Hodge?, Presiding Elder

Methodist Episcopal Church, South,
preached several fine sermons in the
Methodist church in this place last
week, and closed the protracted meeting,
which bad been in progress there,

Last week while Mr. W. D. George
was repairing some broken parts to
the electrical plant at Clemson College,
he became exhausUd from the
beat and laborious labor and as a
consequence he has been confined to

that he is rapidly improving.

Phosphate Deposit Discovered.

source that a valuable and almost inexhaustible
phosphatic deposit, rich
in fertilizing properties, has been discovered
on the place of Mr. A. H.
Wolfe in Sandy Run township, which
covers about 50 acres and borders on .
Congaree river. We understand

Money for the Pensioners.
Clerk Spann has received the
money with which to pay the pensioners
in thi3 county.
The amount which this county
has received is $1,898.30 and is to
be divided among the different
classes.
In class "IT there are 10 pensioners
who get $10 40 each.
In class "C No 1," there are 1G
who willl receive ?12.30 each.
In classes "C No. 2," 55; "No. 3,"
12; and "No 4," 58, each of whom is
entitled to $12 30. The names of
the pensioners as furnished by the
State Board will probably be pullished
shortly. In the meantime the
money is on hand for those entitled
to it, so call on the Clerk and get
your money.

Mr. Perry was entitled to bail and
signed an order discharging him from
custody upon entering into bond in
the sum of $4,000 to be approved by
the Clerk of the Court. The bond
was promptly furnished and Mr.
Perry was released last Saturday.
All Arrangements Are Completed.
Colonel M. D. Harman has completed
his arrangements for the transportation
of Confederate Veterans
and their friends who contemplate
visiting Louisville during the annual
reunion of the Confederate "Veterans.
To avoid a lay over in Columbia he
has succeeded in having an extra
train put on which will leave Bates
burg at 7 o'clock on the morning of
she 29ih inst; Leesville 7:15; Summit
7:30; Lexington 8:20 and will make
close connections at Columbia with
the special train for Louisville. Tickets
will be sold from the above named
stations.
lie has already secured the Dames
of 22 persons who have signified their
intention of making the trip and if
there are others who think of going
ihey can meet him at any of the stations
or in Columbia. Ample arrangements
have been made for the
par.y after its arrival' in Louisville.
This reunion promises to be the best
ever held, and the rates for board and
lodgings are extremely liberal, being
from 15 cents per meal up.
