Nearly every day brings a new departure

of doing business are being
discarded and more modem, up-to
date and progressive ideas are being
adopted by its husinees men. The
latest innovation on the old time custom
was witnessed on our streets
yesterday when an oil tank of the
Standard Oil Company was seen delivering
kerosene oil to our merchants
We presume that it came from
C lumbia for the reason that it is the
nearest agency of the company.
A boom has struck Lexington and
she intends to keep up with the procession
even if she has to march in
frout of tbe band wagon. A little
more liberality on the pirt cf her
merchants in the way of advertising
their wares so that the people of the
surround Dg country may know what
they have to sell and the bargains
they are offering, so as to induce the
purchasing public to come here to do
its trading, will be an effective and
permanent way of buildiDg up the
place and increasing its prospeiity.
Lexington has a fertile, lich and
populous back country to draw trade
from and to support her enterprises if
her business men will only make an
