A Letter from Billy Felix. ?
To the Editor of the Dispatch:
Welcome thou hippy New Year,
And to all yon chance to ccme,
Give Lapp ness health and joy.
In their hnmb'e, peaceful heme.
Mav each home be brighter for a?that,
May each heart be'glad and true:
May they read the goo 1 old Gispat. b,
Then, Mr. Editor, remember you.
Remember the hob eets low with meal.
Bat the press must still go round.
So. reader, j ist s n ' along your wheel.
And make the editors's heart rebound.
M ke it rebourd both far and near,
And to God give the praise
Through the happy paosmg vear.
Three hundred and sixty fi/e days.
Then the paper can go on.
Its weekly m'ss on to fulfill.
Of making each and every home.
# Wore happy nd enlightened still.
1 he editor will net te compelled to go,
lhe thoughtless deJirquents to follow,
Oo his rounds through the rain and snow,
In chase after the mighty dollar.
The old year went out with a dark
and obscure sky. Sable night drew
a dark cloak of blackness around
and cast a shadow of the deepest
hue over the earth as her closing
hour drew near. The new year was
ushered in as old Sol peeped forth
over th# eastern horizon, and his
bright face and genial rays were
greeted by a peaceful world glorious
indeed to behold, enveloped in a
mantle of the purest white, while
mvraids of wee. wee suns snarkled
in the golden rays that the sun sent
forth. How like wt! Let us all lay
aside our old deeds of blackness and
night and resolve in the coming days
to live more holier and purer lives.
Christmas day passed cff lovely
and peacefully, reminding one of a
consecrated Sabbath more than a
a holiday. Our people seemed to
enter with the spirit of keeping the
day holy.
The marriage fever struck not far
form us aDd has claimed several for
its victims. Among the number may
be mentioned our plly widower, M.
Darling Mack, who was married by
Notary Public L. N. Fallaw, and still
there's more to follow. Billy regrets
very much that business affairs in
terfered and prevented him from performing
that most delightful but solemn
ceremony of uniting the lives
of a lovely couple in the holy bonds
of wedlock over in Aiken county.
W. B. Fallaw has ordered a magnificent
and valuable for the church
at this place.
That eminent divine, T. F. Rivers
of the Knott's Mill section, has
move 3 in our midst and occupies the
CliDDard home.
Mr. D. E. Craft, and his good lady,
enjoyed Christmas and the holidays
with their two sons and daughter
from the Citadel, Clemson and Lee3ville.
They have all returned to their
studies. It is an unusual occurrence
for one farmer to have two sons and
one daughter in college at the sarnetime.
What young man started from the
church to the buggy with his best
girl, and seeing the old folks at the
carriage decided to halt and wait for
a more convenient season?
We are pained to chronicle the illness
of Mrs. J. Perry Goodwin. We
hope and trust that ere long this
lovely young bride may be restored in
health to her affectionate young
groom.
There has arrived in the home of
Mr. E. J. Fallaw a new boarder who
will be known in the future by the
name of Kobbie Loe. His prattles
and smiles will make glad the hearts
of fonl and devoted parents.
Our young prince of merchants,
Mr. Ojcar Sturkie, is doing a good
business. He has purchased the H
V. Hutto house and lot, which he
now occupies.
Hugh Wise has moved into the
house recently vacated by L K.
Goodwin, and will do farming busifor
D. B Sphaler.
Poor "Klondike'' let the time (?)
slip by unheeded and unimproved
and then calls on Billy Felix for a
Christmas gift. Not often do I do
such things, but since it is "Klondike,"
if he will come and bring Billy

A dream?seme sweet da> just in sight,

With one sweet girl named Miss Dora.
Should the present health and hap
piness of the pltasant Felix family
continue, and this does not reach the

waste basket, you may again hear
from Billy Felir.
