An AppaU to the People.
Adopted bv the Colorado .Silver
Convention.
Denver, Col., Jtily 12.?lu .marked
<c?atrast with t'ue nery uiterances m
the silver convention yesterday was
the address adopted to-day.
The report from the committee on
resolutions was in the form of an appeal
to the United State, asking their
calm and candid consideration of the
facts relating to silver mining and
the attempt to demonetize silver.
The address contains 4;0t)0 words
and embodies no such threatening
language as was uttered by the Governor
in his speech.
In closing, the address says:
"Hopeful of speedy delivery from the
crushing burden of a financial system
begotten of the greed of Great Brit
aims remorseless money power, and
the prosperity inseparable from an
American system, which includes
free coinage of gold and silver at the
American rates of sixteen to one, we
submit to the people of the United
States this statement of our cause."
Valuable Book.
Every farmer and mechanic should
have a copy of '"Eopp's Commercial
Calculator." It shows at a glance
the value of grain, stock, hay cotton,
lumber and merchandise, also the
exact interest at any rate; the per
cent of gain or loss, tables of wages,
and shows contents of lumber, logs
liarns, bins, wagon beds, corn cribs,
cord wood, and carpenters, plasterers
and bricklayers work and also solves
many practical problems in daily experience.

Topeka, Kan., July 5.?Unless the

the very near future that entire section
will be practically depopulated.
Yesterday the County Commissioners
of Wichita, Lane, Scott, Greely and
other counties met at Leoti and is,sued
a call for a convention at some
central point, at which an appeal is
fn fi-nv^rnnr Lfiwellino- to
immediately call the Legislature to
gether to appropriate funds for provisions,
feed and seed wheat.
Thousands of people will be forced
to leave that section unless aid is
given them at once. Mmdv have
already abandoned their claims aud
gone to Oklahoma.

forlorn and miserable woman on
earth belongs to this class. It belongs
to parents to protect their
daughter from this deplorable condition.
They do them a great wrong
if they neglect it. Every daughter
should be taught to earn her own
living. The licli as well as the poor
require this training. The wheel ot
fortune rolls swiftly around?the rich
are very likely to become poor, and
the poor rich. Skill to labor is no
disadvantage to the rich, and is in
dispensable to the poor. Well-to-do
parents must educate their daughters
to work; no reform is more Imperative
than this.
