Description of Christ.
The following beautiful description
of our Sav:'->ur is said to have been
found in a manuscript written by Lucius
Lentulus, President of Judea,
to the Roman Senate, and is well
worthy of preservation by those who
are his followers at the present time.
"There is at present a man in Judea
of a singular character, whose
name is Jesus Christ. The barbarians
esteem him as a prophet, but his
followers adore him as the immediate
offspring of the immortal God. He
is endowed with ^gjj^^mparalleled
virture as to call &^^GSHB|UUm

his aspect mild and reserved. The
heir flows in those beautiful shades
which no united colors can match,
falling into graceful curls below his
ears, agreeably touching on his
shoulders and parting on the crown
of his head like the head dress of
the Nazarines. His forehead is
smooth and large; his cheeks without
spot, and of a lovely red; his mouth
and nose are finished with exquisite
symmetry; his beard is thick and
suitable to the color of his hair
reaching a little below his chin and
parting in the middle like a fork; his
eves are large, bright and serene.
y O 7 O
He rebukes with mildness and invites
with the most persuasive language.
"His whole address, whether in
words or deeds, being elegant, grave,
and strictly characteristic of an exhalted
being. No man has ever seen
hiui laugh, but the whole world beheld
him weep; and so persuasive are
his tears that one cannot refain from
joining in sympathy with him. He
is modest, temparate and wise; and
whatever the phenomanon may turn
out in the end, he seems a being of
excellent beauty and Divine perfection?in
every respect surpassing the
children of men."

continues well." 49.

The Tin Plate Humbug.
Augusta Chronicle.
The tin plate humbug was intelligently
discussed by a caller at the
New York Democ.atic headquarters
the other day. The speaker was
houses in the United State^. He
said: /
"I will condense the whole situation
for you. The whole amount of dom'estic
tin plate manufactured since
the passage of the McKinley bill
amounts to $750,000. During the
same time there has been paid out in
extra duties 011 tin plate y:st 8G,000,
000. We importers make the same
margin now we did before the passage
of the McKinley bill. The increase
has been added to the price and pass
ed along by us to the manufacturers
of tin pans, pails, dishes, etc., and
by them to the jobber and retail
dealer. The burden of the ?G,009,
000 has fallen on the consumer. It
seems to be gross injustice that 86,
