An immense force is now working on the South Bound Road and there seems to be no doubt of its being completed to Columbia by October 1st. Last Thursday while Tom Han-is, lumber bearer at Marshall Shealy's mill was trying to guide-'he log which was being sawed, hewas thrown upon the saw and instantly killed. The Supreme Court of the State has made a decision in the case of Banks vs. Crout modifying judgement in the circuit court and the case has been remanded to the latter. The prices of school books having been reduced there is such a small margin of profit to the dealer that they cannot be sold under any cir cumstances on credit. They must be paid for in cash on delivery. Mr. Ollie Hook, of Hollow Creek, who has been ill with typhiod fever for about ten days, died yesterday. He was a young man of excellent moral character and kind disposition, and his death will be deeply regretted by many friends. He was about 30 years of age. Call at S. & M. A. C. j I used the present season on my I crop of cotton 200 pounds and 011 corn 100 pounds per acre of your Globe Fertilizer. The prospect for an increased yield is 50 per cent. I regard your fertilizer as the equal of other standard brands. I sold about 150 tons of your fertilizers, and as far as heard from they are giving satisfaction. Don't omit to investigate this statement if vou wish to save money. Death of Mrs. Drafts. Mrs. Lucinda Drafts, who had been ill for some weeks, died at her home, in this place, last "Wednesday 1 evening, in the 71st year of her age. Mrs. Drafts was a quiet unassuming Christian, with a sympathetic and charitable disposition, and her many excellent qualities gained her nu merous friends. In this connection the members of her family requst us to thank her friends for expressions of sympathy and kindly ministrations in her last illness. Dr. Shuler Again!. For the Dispatch.
