The Lexington Factory. Twenty-five thousand dollars have been subscribed by the citizens of this place and vicinity to the capital stock of the Lexington Cotton Mill and a charter will be applied for in a few days. Disastrous Fire. Mr. W. W. Barrs saw, flour, grist and rice mills, with planer and contents were destroyed last night just before day by fire. Mr. Barr is a hard working, industrious and popu- ! lar gentleman and will doubtless have the sympathy of the entire community in his heavy less. He had no insurance. r whom seemed highly entertained by the various laughable features presented. The Indians will remain here till Saturday night on account of the enormous sales of the Kicka- j * ~ poo medicines. Abney of Columbia, and George Johnstone, Esq., of Newberry, with Stenographer McFeat, besides a number of witnesses, were in attendance. Mixon will begin a series of sermons on the ten commandments, at Mt. Carmel C. M. E. church next Sunday night, and everybody is invited to come out and hear them. The sermons will be continued every Sunday night until all the commandments shall have been preached, and his aim will be to make them of interest to all who will attend. Merourial Poison. Several of our citizens have been looking at what has been called a moving star, recently, which may be seen any clear night just above the horizon, southward, at ten o'clock p. m., and are wandering why the newspapers have not been telling us all about it. In appearance it is not j unlike a small torch swung to and fro in a forest, and will do to gaze at now since the Indian show is .about over.
