Comity.
Sec. 1. The County Commissioners
are hereby authorized and requirea to
divide public roads of tbe county i
into highway districts of such siz-* as ;
they may deem advantageous, and
appoint an overseer for each district,
>. and assign such hands to each district
as they may see proper, having regard
to the importance of the road and
the residence of tho hands so assigned.
Sec. 2. Every person so appointed

overseer, oniess exempt irom ro?u
doty, shall be required to serve as
hereinafter provided, and any person
refosing or neglecting to serve when
appointed shall forfeit to the coanty
the sum of twenty-five dollars. The
term of office of snch overseers shall
be two years from the date of appointment,
bnt no overseer shall be reqcired
to serve two terms in eocces- ;
ion, and shall be exempt from road
doty for two years immediately
succeeding snch term.
Sec. 8. The County Commissioners
hall furnish snch overseer with & list
of all persons liable to road duty '
who are assigned to work upon the
highway district over which such
overseer is appointed, and it shall be
his duty to warn out snch hands at j
the timee and places designated by
the Coasty Commissioners, and at
aaeh times as the exigencies of the
weather may necessitate.
Sec. 4. The Coanty Commissioners
ball require all persons liable to
voad dntv to work upon the pablic
roads not less tban six nor more than
twelve days in each year, ana eight
hours of actual work to constitute a j
day a work nnder this section.
Sec. 5. It shall be the doty of each
overseer to keep a list of the hands
nnder bis oontrol and note tha hoars
of aotaal work which each hand per- ;
forms, and to return to tha County
Commissioners after each working >

number of honrs be has actually '

Sec. 1086 On any extraordinary

suddenly obstructed by storm or

person shall, in such case, perform

oart, two days' labor; and one working
