aya: t%Mr. Harrison has been a
citizen of this city for thirteen
years ami is fully identified with
the town and a supporter of its
he?t interests. He is popular
with the people generally, because
he has treated everybody right,
has been courteous and kind to
all, and such a man is always appreciated.
Beginning here as
book keeper, ho worked himself
tip to the position he holds so well
to the satisfaction of all concerned."
The Rock Hill correapondcnt of
rile Charlotte Observer sftvs:
"Mr. Harrison is acknowledged
one of the best business men of
Ibis community, and as cashier of
the NationalUoiniiBunk it lias increased
business and has mads one
of the most prosperous and safest
bunking establishments in the up
country. Mr. Harrison is one of
the most popular men in '.own,
not in a business way alone, but
socially there is no family who
would be more universally missed.
He will leave for his now
place of business the first of the
mouth, and his excellent family
will follow in a short while.
Even as aid and experienced a
newspaper as the Lancaster lve.
view still lias one class of subscribers
that it is a puzzle to know
what to do with. Ilcrc is what
it says about theui:
"One of the strange things
about the newspaper busiuees is
that now and then a subscriber ,
when asked to pay his indebtedness
will get mad, pay up and
order his paper stopped. And
yet the same man will receive u ,
dun from anyone elso ? his uoeiv ,
chant for example?without los? ,
ing his temper and as a matter of j
course." !
That is easy, Brother Connors. |
For uil such every newspaper of- ,
fice needs to keen a "iackuss
a J
* list," and whenever a man gets
mad because he is asked to pay or
because his paper is discontinued
for aon payment, his name should \
lio carefully preserved thereon.
For some time this office has kept '
such a list, and it works nicely.?

In Stute House Mutter.
l'lie State, 29th inst.
Senator Robert Aldrich was
lore yesterday in nltondunce upon
hu meeting of the board of visi:ors
of tlie Citadel. When linked
ivhat steps ho will take toward
f.rosecuting the architect and the
contractor for alleged improper
construction of the iinishing parts
>f tlio State house, (Senator Aidrich
made a reply which indicates
[hat lie has his phn of procedure
mapped out.
;'l have seen some strictures in
the newspapers upon the fact that
the investigating commission proceeded
without making public its
work," he said. "1 believe that
the results of the investigation
prove that to havo been the proper
ivay in which to make the investigation,
for I foresaw that the report
would entail litigation, and 1
low hope to prove before 1 get
hrough with the litigation, of
which I have been given themanlgement
in part, that I can prosemte.
From this it appears that
Senator Aldtich proposes to push
he cases vigorously. The legis
ature directed Col. Aldrich and
Mr. T. Yanccy Williams to be
managers of the litigation and to
