Adams, of this city, will superiiio tend the work, which will commence about the 15th of September. A Fightiug .lodge. I.ittlo Hock, Ark., Aug. Jndgo Carroll L. Wood of llio Arkansas supremo court, who is opposing Gov. JDavis as a candidate for a third term, knocked Gov. Davis otT a speaking stand, four feet, to the ground, during the campaign at Bismarck yesterday. Go\. Davis was not hurt and friends prevented further trouble. Judge Wood was immediately arrested on a charge of assault and battery. Gov. Davis publicly asked Judge Wood questions, and before thoy could bo fully answered interrupted with more questions, which so angered Judge Wood that he knocked Gov. Davis from the platform. Later the matter was adjusted and Judge Wood returned to Little liock today. Tlie Lancaster Graded Schools, The annual session of the Lan caster Graded School will hegin Monday, Sept. 14, 1003. All pupils already assigned to grades, and those to he examined for assignment, will assemble at the now school building promptly at 8.30 o'clock, a. in. Teachers are requested to report for duty, at the same hour and place, on the Saturday preceding the opening of school. All pupils who have not heen assigned to grades will also attend the meeting <>f teachers on Saturday. i'upils residing within tho limits of this School District will he required, as heretofore, to pay a monthly incidental fee of twenty(ivn (>nntn cn^h tlm minm ?. > 1.^ ? ? v? This includes the incidental fee. Cheap rates of board can lie secured in private families by pupils coming from a distance. Moore has returned from a short trip to Easley where he went to investigate cheose making, with a view to establishing a plant at Yorkville or in this vicinity. lie got a considerable amount of information, on the subject, and would now be glad to talk to farmers of tho surrounding country who may be in a position to furnish fresh milk evnrv morning. The plant, if established, will call for large quantities 1 of sweet milk, which must bo 1 furnished every day and for which a good price will bo paid. There are numerous farmers over in the 1 Ivisloy country who sell milk to < the ehoesery, and who roalize a * profit of fivo or six dollars per month on each cow kept for the i purpose. Hock Hill, Aug.20.?lioek Hill's irst bale of cotton was sold here odav, bringiug 14 1-4 cents, it vas raised on the place fivo miles south of here belonging to S. M. Tones of Chester. Since his death the swell ng has left Mr. Karrikor's body ind the coffin is really larger than necessary. When in perfect health Mr. Karriker weighed from 3G0 to 490 pounds. There was not room between the standards of the wagon to place the box and the coupling pole was let out to give room for the box between the front and rear wheels.
