the Elgin section, aged 5b \ef!rs,
formerly of Nortli Carolina. was
committed to jail at this place
Monday charged with the tinmen
tionable crime. The warrant was
sworn out by Boone's wife, and
his fourteen year old daughter is
the alleged victim. She reported
to some of neighbors Monday
morning that during Sunday night
her father by intimidation and
force had eo npolled her to yield
to him. The parties to whom she
reiaieu nor .-lory were highly incensed
at the thought of such ati
outrageous crime in their community,
hut, law abiding people
that the} arc, they at once phoned
Sheriff Hunter about the matter,
and in 2S minutes the Sherill'
was On the grounds und had the
accused in his custody and under
the protection of law. The tpheritl'
made the tiip (a distance of
four miles) in lb minutes, it having
taken 10 minutes to have hid
horse unhitched from a plow at
/ his home, brought to the jail and
