to the Fort Mill Times
says that Mr. I). O. Potts has
purchased the Miller track of land
adjoining his plantation and will
convert it into a hunting and fishing
ground for the general public.
The correspondent further says
that Mr. Potts has six pigs in the
pen that he expects to average GOO
pounds by hog-Uilling time, and
that he also has un incubator that
can hatch chickens faster than
they can be stolen at the present
rate by chicken thieves at Fort
Mill.

Cursed Judge on The Bench.
Jackson, Miss., April 21.?The
supreme court has affirmed the
death sentence of James Burns,
convicted in the circuit ^ourt of
Covington county on the charge of
murdor, and tho'dateof execution
.is fixed for the 9th of Juno.
Burns is a white man, formerly a
citizen of Massachusetts, and was
cenvicted of killing a companion
in a railroad camp near Williamsburg.
When the jury returned a
verdict of guilty Burns surprised
the court by cursing Judge Enochs, "
who was presiding, in a most abusive
manner. The appeal was
taken merely as a means of delay,
no bill of exceptions 01 suggestion

Hamp Cauthen, col., at this place
who died suddenly yesterday
morning, supposedly of heart
disease. Hamp was about 80
