living iu three miles of the city.
Sixteen years ago 1 bought the 1
place. I paid $20 per acre and 1 1
think if 1 would sell I could get
$75 per acre now; but the mem- 1
bera of my family are oppoied to
ailing. 1

in 20 minutes. And the question 1

much as 4,000 pounds with two

States today on motiou quashed

by Judge Jackson of the northern
district of West Virginia in the
cast of Ellis Glenn, alias K. H.
Glenn, and remanded the case for
trial. This is the "man woman"
case which has considerable attention
in (Vest Virginia. The
woman for years masqueraded as
a man under the name of Ellis
Glenn. She was tried for forgery
in Wood county, W. Va., at the
term of court of 1901, and the
jury disagreed. She claimed that
at that time sho was the sister of
"Ellis Glenn." At the full term
of court, when she came to trial
she claimed that she was being
placed in jeopard for the Kume
offense aud sued cut a writ of habeas
corpus before Judge Jackson.
The writ was granted, whereupon
Hunter H. Moss, Jr., prosecuting
attorney, appealed from
Judge Jackson's decision and the
court today sustained the appeal.

FROVIDING FOR AN ANNUAL
TAX ON ALL DOGS FOUND
WITHIN THE LIMITS OF
THE TOWN OF LANCASTER.
He it ordained by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the Town of
uuncusier.in council assembled and
by tho authority of same.
Skc. 1. That an annual tax of
One Dollar is hereby assessed and
levied against the owner of euch
dog or bitch kept within the corporate
limits of said town to be
paid on or before Jany. 1st 1903,
and on or before January 1st of
each and every year thereafter.
That upon payment of said tax,
the owuer of anv doc or hiir-h

shall be furnished by the Chiof of
Police with a tag which shall be
immediately placed upon said dog
nr bitch by being attached to a
collar.
Skc. 2. That any dog or bitch
found running at large without
the tag prescribed in Section 1 of
this ordinance, shal! be seized and
impounded by the officers of the
town and unless the said tax of
One Dollar, together with an additional
amount of twenty-five
