He visited relatives in the Elgin section only last week. His re! mains were interred at Rock Hill ' Wednesday. At the tiino of going to press Tuesday evenipg the case of the Stute vs. II. VV. Plylor and W. C. Deus, charged with receiving stolen goods, hud been called. This was the last case on the criminal docket to bo heard ut this term. It occupied the court all day Wednesday and resulted in a ( mistrial being ordered, the jury, after rcmuining out all night, baring failed to agree 011 a vordict. In the case of Allen Cunning ham, convicted on Tuesday of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, the motion for j a new trial was withdrawn and the prisoner seutenced to G months 1 on the gang or pay a fine of: $50. The appoivtment of Mr. Paul ^ Mooro as Deputy Clerk ?f Court ! was spread on the minutes of the j court, and the usual orders of the Solicitor were taken.
