Letter From A Lancaster County
Boy in Texas.
Dresden, Texas, March 15.?
We are having lots of rain. It
has been raining a little over four
months and it still raining. If it
continues 1 do not know what we
will do.
It is now corn planting time
and n? plowing done to amount
to anything. Some of tho farmers
have plowed a liitle in tho
mud. Nearly all of tho farmers
are buying corn now. The people
on tho black land are out of
wood and tho roads are so muddy
they cannot haul any. Somo of
them are burning their fence post
and some go to town evoty day
horse back after coal.
It takes four good mules to pull
an empty wagon. There is a good |
deal of cotton to pick yet.
I sea in the Ledger where some
of tho people in your county are I
losing their stock from blind stag
gers. l send you a remedy that
1 cut out of tho Dallas News:
HI.INI) STAGGERS REMEDY.
1 will send a valuable recipe t?
to be published. It is for blind
staggers in horses, if it is heeded
it will save many dollars worth of
valuable horses. I personally
know of the remedy being given
to thirtythree head of horses last
year. It did not fail in a single instance.
Don't fail to try it. You will
be rows riled. The last horse that
I tried it on was my own. IIo
wus blind and down and had deen
down about one or two hours. In
eight hours after the lirst dose,
one hour after the second, the horse
was grazing. 1 have the greatest
contidence in the remedy. The
ingredients are: One pint whiskey,
two tablespoonfuls turpentine,
quarter of au ounce quinine
Mix well. The above is enough
for two doses; hardly over have to
give the second dose. Drench
with half pint and with turpentine;
rub the forehead between the eyes
thoroughly. Be careful to not

A Gruesome Find.

The Dead Body of Lewis Pittman
Found Alongside the South
eru Kail way.
Kock Hill ileruld, 18th iust.
A gruesome tind was made by
the section bands of the Southern
Railway when they went down
the track to work yesterday
morning. A few yurda beyond
the city limits was found the body
of a white man, apparently about
lifty years old. There was a deep
ragged hole under the chin, another
in the tc p of the head, one
arm and one leg were brokon, and
he was otherwise badly mangled.
M Htdslrnto IteoUhuiii nntincr w?ro. I
nor, impaneled a jury, who viewed
the body, whioh was then
i brought to the room of Undertaker
Frew anil an examination
made by l)r. Fonnill. While
there the deceased was identified
as Lewis, or "Lute," Pittman,
whose home is in this city.
Rumor declared the deceased
had been down the ro 1 Holiday,
with three other men, all uiinking,
and that one of the men had
left town.
At the inquest, J. T. Gregory
on the stand, gave evidence that
he and his brother, W. M. Gregory,
Lute Pitman and llick Sutton
went down the road kionday
afternoon, purchased a quart aid
a pint of whiskey, and sitting
down by the track, on the ends of
the xross-ties, proceeded to get
drunk. They evidently remained
there until after night. A colored
woman testitied that she saw
them there all the afternoon.
Gregory's evidence was rather
broken, but he remembered that ^
some time in the night something
ruu into them and he was thrown 1
down the embankment. When
he waked ur> a little later on, he
made his way to a colored mau's
house and got him to take him
Home, lie knew nothing of Lute
Pittman's death until yesterday 1
morning.
