by his nephew, Mr. James Sims,

of an old misunderstanding. Mr.
Bowers wounds are not serious.
The weapon used was a doublebarreled
shot gun.

McCaw as usual wore at their
posts. Judge Dantzler delivered
a brief, but very comprehensive
charge to the grand jury, clearly
setting forth and defining their
duties. The following cases have
been disposed of:
State vs. Jos. D. Walker,
charged with violating the dispensary
law. Verdict, not guilty.
John Perry, grand larceny,

to 3 years on the gang.
Perry Horton, house breaking
and larceny, plead guilty. Sentence,
0 years in penitentiary.
George Carlos, arson, plead
E?uilty to second count in indictment
and was recommended to
oiorcy by the jury. He got ten
years and one month imprisonment.
J. P. Yandle. eharured with

receiving stolen goods. Case remanded
to Magistrate's court for
trial ?the evidence on preliminary
hearing being insufficient to
bring the case within the jurisdiction
of the court of general sessions.
Dan Brice, charged with receiving

with indent to kill. Verdict,
not guilty.

Fatal Wreck Near Camdon.
The Southbound train on the
Southern had a disastrous wreck ;
at a switch eight miles this side
of Camden last Sunday. It is
thought the trucks under the bagf*nirn

switch unci shot the cars into the
side track against a freight car
which was standing 011 it, the engine
keeping the track on the main
line. A white trauip, name un^ i
known, asleep on the side track,
was nearly cut in two and instant*

car and second class coach were

Jim Reed, a colored brick ma*
son, son-in- law of Dolph Robinson
of Ibis place, was the only
passenger badly hurt. He had
one leg broken and was badly
bruised up.
Mrs. E. G. Taylor and her
brother, Mr. Lewis Ulyburn, wero
among the passengers but they !
escaped with slight injuries. Mr.
Will Cioyd, of tin* placo, was ul- 1
so a passenger but ho was un
hurt.
