cism has been aroused in Utah following

Reed Smoot in seating some oe

as a porter.
They went to the banquet and I
seated themselves beside some
white people. Some of the guests ^
arose and went to another table. 1

waiters were white girls. Sever
al of them refused to wait on the
negroes, but finally two agreed to
do so. Senator Smoot superintended
the seating arrangements.
