Young,, a prominent physician of Chester county^ were united in the holy bonds of wedlock, the Rev. W. I C. Ewart of the A. R. P. church, officiating. Only the family and j a few special friends witnessed i the nuptials. Dr.*and Mrs. Young left for the former's home at Richburg* on Friday following. Among tho guests from abroad were Mr. Taylor Marion of New , .York, Major J. Hardin Marion anil "senator elect f. 1j. Hardin of Chester and Dr. and Mrs. Montgomery of Charlotte, N. C. ?A very pretty marriage was witnessed in the Presbyterian church at Heath Springs Tuesday evening Dec. 23, 1002. The contracting parties wero Prof. S. \Y. Garrett, principal of the high school at that place, and Miss Lou Mackey, the pretty and popular daughter of Mr. and Mrs D. N. Mackey. Rev. S. C. Caldwell officiated, assisted by liev. ChnL mers Frazer of this place. Mrs. Chalmers Fraser played tho wedding marsh. Tho interior of the church was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Messrs. W. 11. The frolicingouBroud street was marred Christmas eve by a deploruldo incident, as a result of which West Williams, colored, will probably die The facts of the case are alleged to tie as follows: At about 10.30 |>. m.. Mr. James E. Vaughan presented a pistol at West Williams, who happened to tie standing nea?* him, and thrca tened to shoot him. The negro tried to ward oil the pistol with his hand, when young Vaughan, who was said to lie under the influence of drink, tired at West, the hall entering the abdomen. Mr. Vaughan wuo immediately arrested, and West Williams whose critical condition was not at first known, managed to walk to the next block. Ho fell near tho sidewalk and was found by two pussersby soon after, and carried home. Four doctors assisted at the operation this morn ing, and there seems little hope ol his recovery. Williams was employed by tho Camden Telephone com nan v. and hour* un p-indlnm reputation as an inoffensive urn good naturcd person. There was^a hoimde afl.drati tho Richland distillery yesterday afternoon, as a result of the tirst accident that has occurred since the distillery was built. As a result of the accident ono of the employes of the distillery was almost boiled alive. At about 4.30 o'clock the man, a negrp named Charlie Tillman, while walking along tho gangway jlist above one of tho great slop vats which holds 2,500 gallons, j slipped and fell iuto tho vat. It was tilled with boiling slop, the stall from which tho whiskey had already boon extracted. This stuff was at tho time of a temper ature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. When Tillman foil into tho vat two follow workmen tried to save his life. They quickly managed to grasp his hands and pulled him out. Ho hardly spen' more than two minutes in the vat, but when ho was drawn aut ho was unconscious and had realty been cooked alive, llo was in such condition that his clothing had to bo cut from his boiled llesh. Dr. Kendall was hastily summoned and found tho man still breathing. He administered opiates and as soon as possible tho sufferer was removed to tho colored hospital. I Though everything nossiblo wiw douo to save the man's life, death , came and relieved his awful sufferings. He had inhaled the deadI Iv vapor from the vat. ?O. N.
