?Mr. Jos. M. Caskey was reelected
keeper of the county home
for next two years at the meeting
of the commissioners Monday.
There were several other applicants
for the position but Mr. Caskey's
satisfactory administration
of affairs there sinco ho has held
the position made him an easy
winner.
? Interest in the Bazaar next
Christmas for the Confederate
monument is becoming greater
every day. A number of articles
have already been contributed.
The ladies havo decided to unoet
every Thursday afternoon at 4
o'clock to work for the bazaar.

Mr. \V. Marion Neal of tho
Jacksonham section, at bis
home at 8 o'clock yesterday
morning after an illness of about
8 months of dropsy. Mr. Noul
was about 57 years of ago and
loaves, besides a brother and two
sisters, his wife and seven chil(iren
surviving him. The children
are: George C., Wm Ik,
JohnN., and White Neal, and
Misses Dora, Jenuie and Mettie
Neal. The children are all grown
except White. Mr. Neal served
in the Confederate war and mado
a good soldier. He was a member
of Tirzah Presbyterian church
and lived a life consistent with his
christian profession. His re*
mains will bo interred in Tirzah
churchyard at 11 a. m., today after
funeral services by his pastor,
Rev. W. W. Hatch ford.

Negro Accidentaliy Ki led at Van
Wyck
On Friday lust at Hyatt's ginnery
at Van Wyck, Wash Banks,
colored, was accidentally killed by
a bsle of cotton being thrown out
from the press upon him. He
was told to move out of the way
and the hands rolling out the cotton
thought ho had done so. Dr.
Ezzell was summoned but tho negro
died in a few hours. The
cotton struck him about the shoulders
and prushod him to the
ground. He talked some after
the accident and did not seem to
think ho was hadlv hurt
