Another meeting will be held at Mrs. M. J. Perry's Thursday afternoon, Sept. 25th. Q A Potato Thief in Limbo. h J. T. Green, Esq., has been ft1 missing sweet potatoes from his ^ patch the past week or so. Wednesday morning he saw fresh ^ tracks in the patch and concluded w to try the blood hounds on the . trail. The dogs scented the tl tracks to the home of Moses Mc- c Clure, col., about two miles west ^ of town. Moses was at work on the railroad some distance off and when be saw the dogs go to his ^ house he dropped his shovel and took to the woods, thereby showing guilt. He was soon run down and taken in charge by Constable ^ Connor, Policeman Knight and . ID Mr. Green, who had followed the dogs. The Stato this morning presents to its readers the fall vote for the ontiro State for the senator and all State nflipnru Latimer's majority ever Evans grew steadily on the strength of the outlying precincts nnd ho fin ishos with a lead of nearly 18,000 votes. Mr. I ley ward for goveiv nor has inoro than gotten his 10,000 majority, against which so many bets were made in various portions of tho State. Frost wins for adjutant genoral by nearly 7,900 votes and Gantt succeeds Cooper as secretary of tho state by the comfortable majority of 3,025. Canghman receives the iecond largest majority in all the contests, 10,498. The total vote polled has beon 1 surprise. But few thought that it would reach over 80,000, but it went over 91,000, but 4,300 less than that cast in the first primary. A significant fact is that the scratching in the senatoral race was not as general as was ixpected. Col. Sloan of liichland made a 5ne race for lieutenant governor ind has beaten Mr. Gary by noary 3,COO votes.
