Governor McSweeney last night sent the following telegram to Capt. D. C, Hoy ward at Walterboro: "Rerrait me to extend my congratulations and best wishes. May your administration as governor he successful in every particular, as 1 believe it will l>e. "M. B. McSweency.'' The Governor Elect To The Governor. NVolterboro, S. Sept. 11. Gov. M. B. McSwoeney. 1 heartily appreciate your telegram. Fully realizing my responsibility and with a heart full of gratitude to the Democratic voters of South Carolina I can only pray that my administration will result in great good to all citizens of our State. D. C. Hey ward. A prosperous and progressive citizen was heard to express the hope that Hey ward's administra tion would be like McSweenoy's in one respect at least, and thnt is the absence of so much politics and the presence of more business. This is a high and deserved compliment to Governor McSweeney and it's a good course to fcl? low. Our political differences nave been settled at the ballot box 1 and let them stay settled until the next time. In the interim everybody ought to pull for the upbuilding of the material interests ( of the state.?Columbia Record. ' m J Another Confederate Dead. ( Special to The State. Kven then the authority of Mr. Thayer was . disputed by certain managers, but ^ ho finally succeeded in establishing his rights. He told the man- , agers that he was conducting the { election and he was responsible \ for the conditions and that Von ( Kolnitz was entitled to have watchers at the polls. 1 REPEATING. There were many attempts at repeating and in many cases the 1 attempts were successful in spite d of tho vigilunt watching. A well 1 known politician said today that v there must have been at least 400 s fraudulent votes cast, many of h them being cast under false fi names. a H. lv. The managers told him G that a man giving his name as H. S K.
