Senatorial mooting here to-day was devoid of any special features. The meeting established one thing, and tliut is, as far as Darlington County is concerned factionalism is dead and the candidate who attempts to revive it does so to his own detriment. No caustic personalities were indulged in and the discussions were on an elevated plane. Truly to-day's meeting can be called an educational one. Drawdy of Dales shot a mad cow in his father's pasture yesterday, the animal having come from an udjoining pasture and joined a number of milch cows. Mr. Drawdy observed that the animal was frothing at the mouth und charing among the other cows. Several little children in the vicinity were also chased by the infuriated animal. The madness 1 was attributed to a bite received from a mad dog in the spring. Mr. Drawdy's timely appearance en the scene with his gun was considered very fortunate. Two Negro Boys Drowned Special to The State. Beaufort, June 24.--Coroner K. lit. Sams held an incpiest yes Urday on the bodies of two negro boys who were drowned while attempting to swim across a deep creek near Oak Millignn, with bags of oysters on their shoulders. A verdict of accidental drovuiug was rendered by the jury. The boys were aged 11 and 12, respectively. Spartanburg, June 24.?A destructive storm swept through the southern portion of this county Saturday afternoon. From I'elham, on the Greenville line, its course was by Cashville, Woodruff and C ross Anchor, going x>n to Cross Keys in Union County. Tho hail licit was a half a mile to a mile and a half wide. The wind in that belt was very strong, many houses being blown down. These were generally farm houses not ^1 -- 1 u * ' nwiuuiy mini. Only one dwelling house was blown down. The cotton was trimmed until rot a leaf was left. Corn was much injured. Laurens, June 24.?News I reached here this morning of the killing by lightning of a negro , named Mays and his horse, or mule, on Frank ILamlelt's place in the northwestern part of the county Saturday afternoon. It is said that there was no storm at the 1 time and comparatively few clouds were visible. The negro was ploughing at the time.
