this charge lie adroitly '
showed that Tho Stato had omitted
a subsequent statement from him
to the elTect that he had received
a telegram showing that tho parliamen'arians

themselves.
The main charge was not denied,
lie produced no evidence that any
! parliamentarian had supported
him. 11o shielded himself bv (
saying that lie was attacked by a
man who is un Ishmaelitc who just
a week ago stigmatized Rev.E. O.
Watson, an eminent divine, with
having told a falsehood and that
this editor had attacked the Methodist
conference. Ho was not
surprise i then a the nature of Iho
attack on himself.
Tillman's speech was adroit
but it did not satisfy those who1
are acipirinted with the circumstances.
