Of the 39 applicants before the
State board of medical exaaiiucrs
the past week, 81 passed creditable
examinations and wore licensed to
^ practice medicine in the State. Dr
R. S Cauthen, of Kershaw, was
one of the number who passed and

shot through the hand Saturday
by his brother Bill at #Mr.

came out near the wrist.

Messrs. Porter & Bird, the contractors
for erecting the new school
building, began with a large fprcc
of hands, tearing down the old
one Monday, if they continue
to progress as they have se far,
by Saturday n;ght they will be
ready to begin excavating for the
basement of the new building.
Two accidents happened at the
work Monday. Mr. Bird had
ene of his feet badly mashed by a
sash weight falling on it, and a
diece of timber fell on one of Mr.
Jerry M. Knight's feet, mashing
several ot his toes nearly off. Mr.
Knight has been unable to walk

the morning service. The public
