yesterday afternoon. A squad of 1

of the men riding the big pole, as \
it floated down. In the passage a
swift whirlpool was struck in the \
middle of the river and the pole
begun to rock at a pretty lively
rate. There was really no danger,
but these men got off, in some ?

drowned. Their bodies have not
