one, situated d iagonally across the
street from the Robertson 12-story
structure about, to be built. This
second one will be seven stories
high, showing six above tho

will be the home of the Carolina
National bank and will occupy
the site formerly occupied by the
city hall. Everything is ready
for the award of the cont ract and
the commencement of the work,
except the final preparation^ of
the working drawings and the
specifications by tho architects.

Having won this victory for temperance,
Mr. Landis followed it
np with an amendun nt to prohibit
the sale of intoxicants in the capi
tol and it prevailed by the close
vote of 18 to lb.
The bill brings together in one
act all the seatterod legislation
heretofore enacted in regard to
immigration in (he United States

The authorities of Clemson
College take pleasure in announcing
that they will consider invitations
to hold farmers' institutes
this summer during the month of
July in the various counties of
South Carolina. These institutes

communities desiring them. Tho
