More than one hundred persons
from Lancaster have taken in the
exposition so far and wo have yet
to hear of a single one who was
not delighted with-the big show.
Contractor W. G. Adams has
closed a contract to build the now
cotton mill at Walterboro. The
plan is identically the same as the
old mill at this place which was
built by Mr. Adams, and which,
by the way, is said to be the
most substantial cotton mill building
in ^he State. Ho has also
contracted to erect the now bank
building for the Farmers and
Merchants Bank at Walterboro.

Philippine Islands shows no improvement.
In Manila there has
been 555 cases and 449 deaths,

The Lancaster Chapter meets

The 5,<>(><) School Building.
The Trustees "of the erradod
school arc endeavoring to have
everything in readiness to begin
work on the new school
building as soon as the present
session closes. They have determined
to build on the old site nni
will do some giading on the lot.
They met last Friday evening and
selected Mr. C. (3. Wilson of Columbia
as architect to make plan*
for the new school house. Hi?
plans contemplate a brick building
of two stories and a basement.
On the lirst floor there are si>

cluss rooms, an ollico and library,
on the second, four class roomsand
an auditorium. Tho stairways
leading to tuv. second story are
at the ends, but within the building,
and are practically fireproof.
The rooms are all well lighted
and ventilated and each is pro.
vided with a convenient cloak,
room. The building will he
heated by the hot air gravity sys.

Mr. Wilson thinks it will take
six months to erect this building
but it is hoped it can bo completed
sooner. The trustees will
arrange to open the school at the
usual timo in the Fall whether
the building is completed by that
.time or not. They will get the

The Epworth Orphanage, the
last place in the world where a
burglar would be supposed to go,
was robbed Saturday night.
From evidences loft the affair
